Unearthly

Unearthly

Unearthly is one of my new favorites. I feel like its very easy for teens to relate because it tells about a girl who is just trying to be normal in school, a girl who wants to be accepted for who she is and find the right guy for her. The story stole my heart and attention from the first chapter to the last. It's a tale of first love, family, and destiny. I would definatly recommend it to a friend.

Clara Gardner is an angel-blood, meaning she is part angel. This enables her to be stronger, faster, and smarter than normal humans. At age 16 she discovers her purpose, the reason she was put on earth. She keeps having visions of a forest fire and a boy with his back to her. As the vision gets more detailed, she learns that her purpose is to save this boy from the forest fire. She and her family move to Teton County, Wyoming in order to learn more. While Clara gets used to a new school, new house, and new friends she meets Christian Prescott, the boy of her dreams (literally). She tries to learn more about him, but in the process, she starts hanging out with her best friend's brother, Tucker Avery. Over time she develops feeling for him, but when he accidentally finds out what she is, he freaks out. Eventually, he accepts her and they start a relationship.

When Clara becomes aware of Black Wings, fallen angels, she is in more danger than she realizes. Black Wings spread pain and sorrow wherever they go. Clara encounters one right before the fire from her vision starts. She has to overcome the Blck Wing in order to do her job. There's just one problem: Tucker is in in the middle of another fire. Clara must choose between the one guy she's ever loved, or fulfilling her purpose. This book grabs my heart with a twisted ending, and has me wanting more. I hope Cynthia Hand plans to make a sequal.
