Princess of the Midnight Ball is a twisted version of The Twelve Dancing Preincesses. Jessica George is an extremely talented writer. She kept my attention throughout the book. There was never a moment when I was bored or wanted to put it down. I definatly consider it a favorite.

The king of Westfalin has 12 beautiful daughters, all of whom are slaves of King Under Stone, and evil being that was banished under the earth. They are forced to dance for him every night, but they are unable to tell anyone of their curse. If they try, they either start blabbering nonsense or go mute. The king doesn't know how his daughters' dancing slippers are worn out each night and becomes worried.

Galen, a former soldier, becomes an under-gardener in the palace garden. He befriends the eldest princess, Rose, and learns of the girls' mystery. After 4 princes try and fail to solve the puzzle, Galen becomes determined to do it himself. After discovering where the princesses go each night and how, he starts making plans of how to save them from the evil King Under Stone. He uses an invisibility cloak, white wool that floats on water, and black wool that is stronger than steel. But he can't forget the most crucial ingredient: true love. Braving an acid lake, stone men, and King Under Stone himself, Galen does everything possible to save Princess Rose and her sisters. It's an action-packed romance that I couldn't put down. Kudos to Jessica George on her amazing novel!
