This book held my attention from beginning to end. When a story describes battling dragons, griffons, specters, and ogres it's hard not to like. Every page turn kept me wondering what would happen next. This is a truly enchanting novel.

Princess Addie and Princess Meryl couldn't be more different. Addie is afraid of everything and very shy. All she wants is to know that she's safe. Meryl, on the other hand, is brave and always seeking adventure. She desperatly wants to fight monsters and save her kingdom. Even though they're so different, they each love the other and would do anything for each other.

When Meryl becomes sick with the Gray Death, Addie is terrified and doesn't know what to do. The Gray Death always takes its victims' life because the cure has never been found. Addie's love for Meryl forces her to face her many fears and go out on a perilous quest in search of the cure. Along the way, Addie wards of griffons, unveils specters, wounds an ogre, and is captured by a dragon. All Addie has are some strange gifts from her deceased mother and her love, an apprentice sorcerer. The tale tells of her adventure and her will to save her beloved sister.
